Timothy Sullivan is a dynamic technology entrepreneur who brings to EMSNet more than twenty years of experience in building emerging technology companies in a variety of vertical markets. Mr. Sullivan founded Fidelis Security Systems, the authority in extrusion prevention technology, in 2002 and bootstrapped the company to ultimately secure $26 million in venture capital financing. With no prior experience in the computer security industry, Mr. Sullivan set Fidelis on a course to disrupt the dominant paradigm present in network security at the time by changing the focus from "intrusion" mitigation to "extrusion" prevention and became a key player in the development of the data leakage prevention (DLP) market. Under his leadership, Fidelis developed and marketed the industry's most comprehensive data leakage prevention product, winning accolades from the media and customers alike. Having been responsible for all initial customer sales, Mr. Sullivan took the company from pre-revenue through to its first seven-figure deals and secured strategic relationships with technology leaders such as IBM.
Previously, Mr. Sullivan was Executive Vice President of InforMax, Inc., a bioinformatics software company, and was instrumental in raising $100 million in venture capital and strategic investment, culminating in the company's initial public offering. At InforMax he grew sales from $3 million to a $30 million rate in 30 months. In addition to his time at InforMax, he also spent time in sales and marketing functions at Manugistics and Mercator Software, formerly TSI International Software. Prior to his career in entrepreneurship, Mr. Sullivan was a management consultant with EDS, Andersen Consulting, and Booz Allen & Hamilton.
Mr. Sullivan is a former U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Platoon Commander. He holds a BA and MBA from Columbia.
